Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping! And if you’ve already been vaping for a while, hopefully these tips will still help you to get more out of it.
If you’re new, vaping can all be a bit overwhelming. Gone are the days when you bought the first e-cigarette you came across and that was it. Now there is a whole wide world of vaping complete with endless devices, flavours and styles – not to mention the new lingo to get your head around.
Here’s what you need to know when you are getting started.
Choose Only the Best E-Juice
This is the first thing to keep in mind. You really need to go with the good stuff, because your experience will be so much better.
There is a lot of low-quality e-liquid out there, and it’s best avoided. Even if it means spending a little bit extra on better blends, it’s well worth it. The best e-juices (like the ones you’ll find in our store) have fewer impurities and other nasties like Diacetyl or Acetyl Propionyl.
Avoid E-Juice that’s Too Sweet
Following on from the previous point, when choosing your e-liquid, make sure you don’t go for flavours that are too sweet. A lot of the mass-produced e-juices are overly sweet, and while you may like this, it’s bad news for your equipment.
E-juices that have too much sugar can actually damage the coils because you get a buildup of a caramel-like substance that stops the coils doing their job. Too much sweetness also affects the wicking material, and this also reduces the length of time your coil will last.
Our e-liquids are sweet without being too sweet. They have just the right amount of sweetness to provide an enjoyable vape without excessively damaging the coils.
Choose Your Kit (and Don’t Be Stingy)
You’ll need something to vape with, and our advice is to buy a high-quality kit. The price can seem steep compared to the price of a pack of cigarettes, but it is well worth the investment – and in the end you get what you pay for.
Think about size. Do you want to be discrete? Or does it not matter? Are you happy with something basic, or do you want to get more involved?
Get an idea of what’s out there and the price you can expect to pay. Read reviews and find out what people are recommending for beginners. After you’ve been vaping a while, you may want to look into box mods that offer more flexibility and power.
Experiment with Flavours
There are so many wonderful flavours out there to choose from. You may prefer something simple like a single fruit flavour, but there is no need to stick to simple flavours if you don’t want to.
Our advice is to experiment and try out new things. There are some wonderful mixes out there – many of which you can find right here on our own store! How about our Tickled Pink, for example? Or maybe Blueballz?
Try different flavours, experiment and discover new e-juices, one of which might turn out to be your new daily vape.
Try Different Ratios of PG and VG
The PG/VG ratio is something you’ll want to keep in mind as you start choosing different e-juices. VG, or vegetable glycerin, is responsible for a smoother hit, and it creates larger, thicker clouds. That’s why it’s so popular with cloud chasers.
A higher percentage of PG, however, leads to smaller clouds, and a more noticeable throat hit. Different vapours prefer different things. Again, experiment until you find the right ratio for you.
Choose on a Nicotine Level
Most vapers choose to include nicotine in their e-liquids, while some don’t – it’s up to you. However, when first starting out, it’s a good idea to choose a slightly higher nicotine level, at least if you are trying to quit smoking.
About 18 mg is a fairly standard strength for people going from smoking, but e-liquid comes with lower values. 12 mg, 6 mg and 3 mg are the standard levels, so it may take a bit of experimentation.
Look After Your E-Liquid
E-liquid needs to be cared for carefully, and you should follow a few basic rules to keep it in top condition for a better vaping experience.
- Store out of direct sunlight because extreme heat can degrade the VG, PG and Nicotine
- Keep them closed while storing them because leaving them open also reduces their quality making them less flavourful
- Shake before using them to mix any settled Flavourings, VG and PG
Look After Your Equipment
Take care of your equipment. This means cleaning your tank on a regular basis, which is easy to do. Simply empty and clean it by rinsing it under hot water once a week or so.
Check the battery connections regularly and make sure they are working properly. Check for buildup of e-juice, and wipe it clean if you find any. Also, if your coil is looking a bit worn down, replace it otherwise it won’t work.
Build a Collection
Once you start vaping more regularly, you might want to invest in some more kits. This allows you to experience different flavours during the day more easily. You might not want to stick to a single flavour, so start building a collection – it’s a great hobby!
The most important thing of all is to enjoy yourself! Vaping is a wonderful hobby for many people, and if you’re quitting smoking, it may be just what you need to kick the habit for good – but it’s also simply a lot of fun.
